So, I turned 50 this past weekend. It is definitely funny how people come up to you and tell you what it means to turn 50. Then I started another book I got for my birthday (from myself) 50 things to do when you turn 50. Chapter 1 from Garrison Keller (sp) stop drinking. Sounds like a good idea. My question is do I have to do this right away or can the whole 50th year be my last year of "playing" before starting to worry about how to extend the rest of my years. Well I gotta get going and start my daily stretching now that I am 50. ( words of wisdom from Dennis Robillard for turning 50).

• May 15th, 2012No matter what I do I never am done. I went to bed early last night (I decided my weight gain is from lack of sleep not to much food), Still couldn't get out of bed. When I got yo work I was early so I moved accordingly. Now I am behind.
Today a special guest stopped by though!!

• May 11th, 2012Yeah it is Friday!!! It is the good and the bad today. I just don't understand how people can proclaim their faith then be mean to their peers? It is one of those mysteries or is it an indicator of the presence of the evil?
On a lighter note, start your weekend right with dinner at the Bean tonight, it is Meatloaf Wellington!

• May 9th, 2012I am worried, what is going to happen today? I slept with my hands open, at least in the beginning and end of my sleep cycle. I hope that doesn't let in the demons. At first I thought I was letting in the good energy then I started to think.......?

• May 8th, 2012Matt was feeling a little left out of the Avengers thing and he is there now!! Meaning I am alone. A lot of stuff going on in my head today. Did a little time traveling on Monday. To get to the other plane food was not the fuel, it was sight and sound. Once again I am amazed at how things have changed over the years. It is just like watching your kids or pets grow, you don't really notice until its over.

• May 4th, 2012Boy am I tired. Got home from the movies at 3!! Owen talked all the way home, this was the best day of his life. It certainly wont be hard to beat this. A diet of popcorn and soda is not agreeing with me, maybe it was the burrito I had to mix it up a little? Part of me wants to say I wont be doing this again, but you know the right circumstances I may be talked into it.

YOUR DAILY PHIL
• May 1st, 2012I just opened an issue of Bon Appetite magazine. I immediately turned to the page for Easter Ham. Ham is not my favorite food, yet tradition and ceremony are something that I like and maybe this could be a recipe that can change my mind about ham. The food is not what has drawn me to this article it is the tagline “Here there are no bells or whistles- just honest, beautiful food” Without reading a word I can see that it is not really about bells and whistles. The photos alone show abundance, beauty, patience and the time and money put into this meal.
Rules that is what we need. It is understandable that the spread in a magazine needs to look good. Everything that they are doing sounds enticing to me, from the watercress soup to the marmalade cake. It does not sound nor look like salt and pepper cooking. Early spring soup and orange pound cake however does sound simple. Please if we are going to be shown a simple way of cooking show me an overcrowded kitchen with dirty dishes in the sink, the cooks sweating over the stove wiping their brow with a dish cloth and chaos that cooking a traditional dinner for 10 creates. What we see and read about is not the production, but pre and post production. Truth that is all I am asking for. I like bells and whistles as I don’t like bells and whistles. If you say that there are not bells and whistles show no bells and whistles.
Why is soy milk called “milk”? Is the definition of milk, a white liquid? Can glue be called milk? Or does it have to be edible? Milk needs to be defined and not used for imitation beverages. How about soybean juice or almond liquid. Something that tells us that these do not come from the mammary glands of nuts!!
